What is Positive Intervention?
Positive Intervention is a proactive approach to managing and supporting challenging behaviour. It focuses on using a mix of verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques, along with strategies for repairing and reflecting on challenging situations. When necessary, it incorporates safe and humane physical interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
What does the Teach+ course cover?
Understanding SEMH: Explore what Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) entails and the factors that contribute to it, including Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE's).
Supporting SEMH Needs: Enhance children’s Emotional Intelligence with effective techniques for developing Social & Emotional Mental Health.
Developing Positive Intervention Skills: Gain skills in Positive Intervention, which encompass verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.
Understanding Legal Responsibilities: Familiarise yourself with legal duties and government guidance that underpin your responsibilities in the school environment.
Implementing Prompts, Guides & Restrictive Physical Interventions: Learn about the practical application of guides, escorts, and restrictive physical interventions when necessary to keep children safe.
Reflecting on Practice and Well-being: Engage in reflective practice to enhance both your professional approach and personal well-being.
